Eat right and exercise. The best dieting advice I’ve heard is that dieting is a lifestyle. It’s not about counting calories for a few weeks and accepting the results or ordering boxed diners from some fitness group. You need to turn your life around so that you’re eating healthy food, getting all the nutrition you need, and exercising. You have to choose a plan that works best for you and one you can keep up with long after the weight starts coming off.

You should probably talk to a doctor or nutrition specialist if you’re really wanting to lose a lot of weight so you can make sure you’re doing this a healthy way.

Question by : Diet plans or supplements for teens?
I have been searching for supplements and diet plans for teenagers but came up with nothing. They are not suitable for under 18. Anyone know any diets or anything that would help? Thank you.

Science has yet to discover many of the components of food that support health. Supplements extract identified nutrients and minerals, but leave out many of the components that are likely to be necessary for human health. We are yet to discover these. Eating plants in their whole form will provide all of the nutrition you need. In most studies, supplements do not provide any benefit when a subject is not deficient. The studies must coerce a deficiency in their animal subjects and then supplement the deficiency. Even then, the human and animal studies are often failures. Sometimes the supplements do worse than a placebo. Contaminants and GMOs are also a problem. Excess calcium supplements and excess iron can cause problems. You should not rely on animal based calcium sources because animal proteins tend to make your blood acidic. Acidic blood draws calcium from bones in order to neutralize the blood. Too much milk, for instance is correlated with osteoporosis. (Harvard’s Nurses’ Study) Nurses who drank 3 servings of cow milk per day had more osteoporosis than nurses who consumed less milk. This is opposite of what the Dairy Counsel wants you to believe.

As a pure vegetarian, I occasionally take B12 and D supplements, but more often I use plant sources for these so-called vitamins. I rely on plant based foods for all minerals and nutrients. Leafy greens provide me with adequate calcium, iron, and some protein. Read any book by Dr. Dean Ornish, Dr. Neal Barnard, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, Professor T. Colin Campbell, or Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, Jr. for more information about creating a balanced diet.
