Question by sdgoodfun: Has anyone tried the “Medifast” weight loss program?
I can’t see how shakes can fill me up. I need to lose 50 pounds. Any other commercial weight loss programs that really work? I was not successful on weight watchers…

I went through Take Shape For Life, which is the coaching division of Medifast. I lost 40 lbs in 10 weeks. I didn’t feel hungry, I had energy, and I didn’t suffer any drop-off in mental or physical function.
Regarding your primary concern, feeling full, after the first 4 days, you will rarely be hungry. If you do feel hungry, it means you probably have waited too long between meals. There are over 70 meals to choose from, too, so it isn’t all shakes. Right now, I’m eating a Medifast caramel chocolate bar, and their options range from soups to shakes to soft-serve to cheese puffs. There’s a huge variety to satisfy your palate.
TSFL/Medifast differs from other programs in that it contains a nutritional blueprint to ensure you don’t deprive your body of essential nutrients. Unless you have special medical issues, your program will include 5 Medifast meals and 1 “Lean & Green” meal every day. The “Lean and Green” meal fits within certain parameters, but within those parameters you have a lot of choices.
I am certainly biased, but I recommend going with Take Shape For Life instead of through a Medifast store/clinic. Through TSFL, you get a health coach and don’t pay anything extra. My understanding of the Medifast stores/clinics is that they charge an additional fee for their service.
I hope this helps! See the website below for more information on TSFL.
